The day before, the national team of Ukraine celebrated 31 years since its first official match, which took place at the Avangard Stadium in Uzhhorod against Hungary. Our western neighbours proved to be more skilful than the international debutant and won 3-1.
Over the past 31 years, our main team has played 300 matches, with 134 wins and 81 losses. A draw was recorded 85 times. The total difference between goals scored and conceded is 413-305.
It will be recalled that these statistics take into account the sparring match with Malta (0:1) in 2017, which is not included in the FIFA register due to the large number of substitutions. But we take it into account because we have had a large number of substitutions in friendly matches before. And this is not a reason to exclude these matches from the biography.
