Fulham faced Manchester City at Craven Cottage Stadium in a highly-anticipated Premier League match in a tense and exciting game for both fans. It was clear from the start that both teams were hungry to win, and Manchester City were awarded a penalty just 3 minutes into the game. It was expertly converted by E. Haaland, giving the visitors an early lead. However, Fulham did not let this defeat dampen their spirits and after just 12 minutes they managed to level the score thanks to a spectacular goal from Carlos Vinicius. The striker's impressive display of skill and finesse left Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson with no chance of saving the shot. However, Manchester City were not complacent and continued to go forward in search of a second goal. Their persistence paid off in the 36th minute when J. Alvarez scored a superb goal that gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at the break.
Despite their best efforts, Fulham failed to equalise in the second half. This was despite inspiring substitutions from manager Scott Parker, who brought in T. Cairney, M. Solomon, D. James, S. Lukic and H. Reid in the hope of changing the trajectory of the game and securing a much-needed point. At the same time, Manchester City made a number of smart substitutions, with P. Foden and B. Silva replacing R. Mahrez in the 83rd minute. Silva in place of R. Mahrez and J. Alvarez. The game, however, was not without controversy. Both teams received yellow cards late in the game, with Fulham's K. Tete and J. Grealish and Manchester City's Ederson and K. Walker being cautioned. Despite this, the game remained very competitive and interesting from start to finish, and Manchester City ended up with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Fulham. As a result, Manchester City continued their winless start to the Premier League season, while Fulham will undoubtedly be disappointed that they could not take anything out of a game in which they gave their all.
The next round of fixtures will see Fulham v Leicester and Man City v Leeds.
