The Premier League match between Newcastle and Southampton at St James' Park was a thrilling encounter in which the home side battled back from a minimal deficit to win 3-1. In the first half, Southampton dominated, while Newcastle could not find their rhythm. The visiting team nearly took the lead in the third minute, but the goal was cancelled out due to offside. However, they received their first yellow card four minutes later when Jan Bednarek was sent off for a foul on Jannik Westergaard. Southampton eventually took the lead in the 41st minute when Stuart Armstrong scored a superb goal, leaving the Newcastle goalkeeper helpless. The home side tried to get back into the game but failed to hit the goal box in the first period. In the second half, Newcastle came out in full force and equalised in the 55th minute when Callum Wilson struck the spot-kick.
A minute later, Southampton received a yellow card when Kyle-Walker Peters committed a foul. Both teams made substitutions in an attempt to gain an advantage in the game, but it was Newcastle who remained victorious. Southampton continued to receive yellow cards throughout the second half with Stuart Armstrong receiving another yellow card in the 71st minute. In the 74th minute, Newcastle's goal was cancelled out as Wilson was spotted in an offside position, but Newcastle continued to press and eventually scored a second goal thanks to a Theo Walcott goal. Wilson then scored his second goal of the game in the 81st minute, securing a 3-1 win for Newcastle. The match was exciting for the fans of both teams and Newcastle showed great character to come back and win the game. This win allowed them to climb up the Premier League table, while Southampton will be looking to bounce back after losing their next game.
