In a much-anticipated La Liga match, Cadiz hosted Valencia at the Stadio Nuevo Mirandilla. With both teams going into the game with the desire to win, the match should have been an exciting one. The first half was dominated by the home team, Cadiz, who managed to score in the 39th minute thanks to the impressive play of G. Escalante. Valencia found it hard to keep up with the pace of Cadiz and when the halftime whistle blew, the scoreline was 1-0 in favour of the home side. Valencia must have received an encouraging prayer from their coach at half-time, because they came out in the second half fully armed. They managed to score with just six minutes left in the second half, thanks to a brilliant strike from S. Lino. However, Cadiz could not resist and quickly answered with a second goal, which was scored by S. Guardiola on 46 minutes. During the game, both coaches made several substitutions to give their teams freshness and energy. Valencia's I. Musa and E. Comert came on in the 56th minute in place of D. Lopez and S. Castillejo, respectively. Cádiz's Fali replaced J. Mere in the 58th minute and I. Alejo came on in place of T. Bongonda just a minute later.

In the 67th minute, the Cadiz coach made two more substitutions: C. Ramos and R. Parra replaced R. Alcaraz and M. Mbaye. Valencia also made one last substitution in the 71st minute, with D. Fulquier and Nico replacing T. Correia and J. Guerra respectively. Cadiz's final substitution came in the 72nd minute with C. Lozano replacing S. Guardiola. As the game progressed, the yellow cards began to appear more and more frequently. Cádiz's F San Emeterio was given a yellow card in the 60th minute, while Valencia's S Castillejo was sent off in the 75th minute. In the 85th minute, R. Sobrino and C. Lozano of Cadiz and I. Moriba of Valencia were yellow-carded. The game was on a knife edge and tensions were high, leading to a flurry of yellow cards in the final minutes. L. Hernandez, J. Ledesma and A. Espino of Cadiz received yellow cards in the 90th minute, ending a dramatic and tense game. The match ended 2-1 in favour of Cadiz, which sent their fans into a frenzy. Valencia made a valiant effort, but it wasn't enough to win. The Cadiz team, led by their impressive goalscorer S. Guardiola, managed to hold on to the lead with a hard-fought win at home.
