Newcastle United faced Arsenal at St James' Park in a much-anticipated Premier League match. Tensions were high as both teams looked to move into first place. At half-time, the score was 0-1 in favour of Arsenal, thanks to M. Odegaard's goal in the 14th minute. Despite Newcastle's efforts to equalise, they failed to hit the target in the second half. Arsenal increased their lead in the 71st minute when F. Ball scored an own goal. Newcastle received a yellow card in the 73rd minute when D. Byrne committed a foul. Trying to turn the tide, Newcastle made two substitutions in the 78th minute. J. Willock and K. Wilson came on instead of A. St. Maximin and A. Gordon respectively.
However, Arsenal responded with two substitutions of their own, releasing T. Partey in place of M. Odegaard and L. Trossard in place of G. Martinelli. Newcastle made three more substitutions: Joelinton, E. Anderson and M. Targett came on in place of J. Murphy, Joelinton and D. Byrne respectively. Arsenal made two more substitutions, replacing G. Jesus with E. Nketia and B. Saca for R. Nelson. Both teams received yellow cards in the final minutes of the game, with F. Ball receiving one in the 90th minute for Newcastle and E. Nketia for Arsenal. In the end, Arsenal won 0-2 thanks to solid defending and an early goal in the first half. It was a tense match between two strong teams and the supporters of both teams left the stadium looking forward to the next meeting.
