Lyon beat Montpellier 5-4 at the Groupama Stadium in a thrilling match in which nine goals were scored. The game began with Lyon taking the lead in the 31st minute thanks to an A. Lacazette goal. However, Montpellier responded with two quick goals from E. Vaha on 40 and 41 minutes respectively, and Lyon were 2-1 down at half-time. At the start of the second half, Lyon made a substitution, replacing N. Tagliafico for Henrique, but it was Montpellier who made the most of their chances, scoring a penalty in the 53rd minute and another goal from Waha in the 55th minute. Lyon fought back with a goal from Lacazette in the 59th minute, just before J. Lepenant was replaced by Jefinho. Montpellier made two substitutions in the 65th minute, releasing C. Fayad in place of L. Leroy and F. Maouass in place of T. Saint-Luce.
In the 70th minute, D. Lovren of Lyon scored a goal, after which Lyon made a substitution: M. Gusto replaced S. Koumbedi in the 71st minute. Montpellier made two more substitutions: M. Sakho replaced M. Esteve in the 77th minute and E. Vahy replaced V. Germain in the 80th minute. Despite losing 4-2, Lyon made a late surge, scoring two goals in the final ten minutes of the game. A. Lacazette completed his hat-trick with a goal in the 82nd minute, and in the 90th minute a penalty was awarded to Lyon, which Lacazette coolly converted. Montpellier received two yellow cards in the final minutes of the game, with F. Sako and C. Julien receiving them. All in all, it was a thrilling match that had everything you could want from a football match - goals, drama and excitement. Lyon's late comeback delighted the home fans, while Montpellier will regret the missed opportunities that could have seen them take all three points.
