La Liga approves financial plan for Messi's move to Barcelona

La Liga have approved Barcelona's financial plan to sign Argentine striker Lionel Messi, Catalunya Radio reports.

According to a source familiar with the situation, La Liga president Javier Tebas has been briefed on the club's strategy for the near future and has approved it. Thus, the team will be able to sign the Argentine as early as the 2023/2024 season.

Messi is willing to take a pay cut to return to Barcelona. Tebas had previously stated that the striker would not be able to sign a contract in the club's current economic situation. However, Barcelona have unveiled a plan in which they will be forced to sell more than €200m worth of players and cut wages for others in order to bring back the world champion.
