Milan faced their rivals Inter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in the much-anticipated UEFA Champions League match. The atmosphere was tense from the outset, with both teams keen to win. Inter got off to a flying start, with Edin Dzeko scoring the opening goal with only 8 minutes left. AC Milan tried to get back into the game, but their efforts were thwarted when Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored Inter's second goal just three minutes later. AC Milan tried to turn the tide by replacing Ismael Bennacer with Josip Messias in the 18th minute, but Inter remained reliable in defence, preventing AC Milan from scoring. Just before the break, Rade Kroonjic (AC Milan) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Inter) were awarded yellow cards.
Milan stepped up their play in the second half as Stefano Chiaer and Alexis Saelemakers replaced Mohamed Tiau and Divock Origi in the 59th minute. However, their efforts proved futile as Inter continued to hold their ground. Inter also made several strategic substitutions, with Mkhitaryan being replaced by Marcelo Brozovic in the 62nd minute and Dzeko being replaced by Romelu Lukaku in the 70th minute. Inter continued to apply pressure and Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu came on as replacements in the 78th minute. AC Milan made one last substitution, producing Davide Calabria and Brahim Dias in place of Pierre Caloulou and Tommaso Pobega in the 82nd minute. However, it was too late as Inter held a 2-0 lead until the final whistle. Overall, it was a dominant performance from Inter, who showed why they are one of the best teams in Europe. AC Milan need to regroup and come back stronger if they hope to advance far in the Champions League this season.
