The 2022/2023 Champions League final, due to take place in Istanbul on 10 June, could be moved to another country by UEFA. This was reported by the Daily Mail.
According to the source, the Turkish presidential election may prevent the final from taking place and they want the match to be played in Lisbon. Furthermore, UEFA representatives have already held informal talks with the Portuguese Football Federation. UEFA is concerned that there could be trouble during the presidential election in Turkey.
As a reminder, the first round of voting will take place on 14 May. Ercep Erdogan and Kemal Kilidaroglu are favourites to win the presidency. Ahead of the vote, the incumbent Turkish president is trailing his rival by 5 per cent. The winner is expected to be decided in a second round scheduled for 28 May.
