In another exciting Ligue 1 match, Lens hosted Reims at the Stade Bollaert-Délélis. From the start, the match was tightly fought, with both teams showing an impressive level of skill and athleticism throughout the game. At half time, the score was 1-1, but Lens won the face-off with a 2-1 win. There were quite a few cards handed out by the referee in the match. However, the most notable one came in the 19th minute when Lens's K Danso was shown a red card. Despite this setback, Lens managed to keep their composure and continued to play with an attacking attitude. On 23rd minute, a penalty kick was awarded to Reims, which was successfully converted by Franco Balogun.
However, Lens were quick to react and just before the break they were awarded a penalty. P Frankowski saved the spot-kick, which put the teams in front 1-1. In the second half, Lens came back strongly and on 55 minutes, S. On 55 minutes, S. Fofana netted the equaliser, giving his side the lead. Reims tried to get back into the game but failed to equalise despite several chances. As the game entered the closing stages, both teams made a number of substitutions to try and change the game. Lens replaced M. Haidara with D. Machado and Reims replaced A. Flips with A. Zenneli and C. Serhuis for A. Matusiva. As a result, Lens defeated Reims in a hard-fought 2-1 win. Thanks to this win, Lens moved up in the Ligue 1 table, while Reims will be disappointed to have lost such a tight match.
In the next round, Lorient v Lens and Rheims v Angers are the two opponents to watch out for.
