"Dynamo fail to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in nine years

After Dnipro 1 beat Kolos Kovalivs'kyi (2:1) in yesterday's match of the 27th round of the Ukrainian championship, Kyiv Dynamo have lost their theoretical chances to climb above the third position in the current championship.

The Kyivians are now in the fourth place in the standings and are 14 points behind Dnipro 1 holding the second position. At the same time, there are only four games left in the calendar for Dynamo so the Bilo-Syni become unreachable for them.

Thus, following the results of the current season Dynamo cannot get a ticket to UEFA Champions League 2023/24. It must be recalled two best teams from Ukraine will play in the main European Cup tournament.

It should be noted that it is the first time in 9 years Dynamo failed to qualify for the Champions League. The last time the Kyivians were without the main European Cup tournament was at the end of the 2013/14 season, when they finished in the fourth place in the Ukrainian championship under Oleh Blokhin.

As for the other European competitions, Dynamo have already guaranteed their participation in the Conference League next season (4th and 5th places in the final standings of the Ukrainian championship). In addition, the Kyivians still have a theoretical chance for a ticket to the Europa League (the 3rd place), but for this the capital team needs to beat the third going Zorya, which is now 8 points ahead of Dynamo (with four games remaining for both teams).
