In a thrilling encounter between AS Roma and Salernitana, both teams battled it out at the Stadio Olimpico in a Serie A league match. Salernitana led 1-0 at half-time thanks to an A. Candreva goal in the 12th minute. Before the break, Roma tried to level the scores but their efforts were in vain. But just before the break, they did score, but Roger Ibañez's goal was cancelled out due to a handball. In the second half, Roma made three substitutions, with B. Tahirovic, D. Llorente and O. Solbakken. This seemed to have a positive effect as S. El Shaarawy scored in the 47th minute. El Shaarawy scored to level the scores. However, in the 54th minute, Salernitana were back in the net thanks to a goal from B. Dia which put them 2-1 ahead.
However, Roma did not let up and made another substitution, this time G. Wijnaldum replaced T. Abraham. In the 69th minute, Salernitana player N. Diomber received a yellow card, which was followed by a triple substitution in the Salernitana squad: G. Castanos, M. Lovato and E. Bohinen. In the 75th minute, AS Roma fielded M. Camara in place of B. Cristante, after which Salernitana made a double substitution with A. Candreva in place of E. Boteim and L. Pirola in place of V. Troost-Ekong. In the 83rd minute, Roma's N. Matić netted the equaliser, much to the delight of the home side's fans. However, in the final minutes of the match there were several yellow cards and a red card for Salernitana player P. Souza, which effectively ended the match in a 2-2 draw. Overall, it was an exciting match with plenty of action and drama. Both teams had opportunities to win, but in the end they had to settle for one point.
