Shakhtar Donetsk took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal scored by G. Sudakov on 5 minutes. Despite their best efforts, Zorya Luhansk failed to equalize before the break, with the scoreline standing at 0-1. The second half kicked off with a yellow card for Zorya player Y. Skakhov in the 32nd minute, with the chances of a win plummeting when I. Snurnitsyn got a red card in the 49th minute. Shakhtar Donetsk took advantage of the weakened defense of Zorya Luhansk and scored another goal in the 59th minute, this time by A. Bondarenko.
Zorya Luhansk tried to get their revenge, with substitutions on 60, 67 and 80 minutes: K. Drishlyuk, O. Hakhlev, D. Myshnyov, M. Smiyan and P. Polegenko came on the pitch. However, Shakhtar Donetsk's defence was solid, while their skillful attacking proved to be too much for Zorya Luhansk. An exciting match ended with an impressive win for Shakhtar Donetsk, who strengthened their position in the Premier League top flight.
