On 26 May, one of the matches of the 37th round of the Italian football championship took place. Sampdoria (Genoa) and Sassuolo (Italy) met.

Sampdoria hosted Sassuolo in an exciting Serie A match with plenty of goals and events. The match took place at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris and both teams went into the game hoping for a positive result. The match started with Sampdoria taking the lead in the 8th minute thanks to a goal from M. Gabbiadini. However, Sassuolo immediately responded in the 9th minute with a goal from D. Berardi. They kept the pressure on their opponents and it paid off in the 11th minute when Mateus Henrique scored his second goal of the game. Sampdoria tried to get back into the game but could not break down the Sassuolo defence and went into the break with the score at 1-2. However, Sampdoria took the lead in the second half after making three substitutions early in the half, including substitute B. Amione to F. Paoletti and B. Nuytinka for N. Murra. The second half was an entertaining contest, with both teams creating plenty of chances. Sassuolo received a yellow card in the 48th minute when A. Harrui fouled a Sampdoria player.
The home side also received a yellow card when M. Oikonomou was cautioned in the 53rd minute. Sampdoria made a third substitution in the 61st minute with T. Rincon replacing E. Ilhan. Sassuolo also made two substitutions: Mateus Enrique was replaced by M. Lopez and E. K. Seide came on in place of N. Bayrami. On 68 minutes, Sampdoria made one more substitution: M. Oikonomu was replaced by J. Murillo. The hosts were desperately trying to get back into the game, and their efforts were rewarded in the 78th minute when Sassuolo scored an own goal when M. Erlik slotted the ball in. Sassuolo responded by fielding A. Pinamonti in place of G. Defrel in the 79th minute. Sampdoria also made one last substitution, fielding F. Quagliarella in place of S. Lammers in the 88th minute. Sassuolo followed suit with a final substitution in the 90th minute: M. Erlik replaced F. Romagna. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, with both teams getting one point each. It was an exciting game with a lot of action, goals and drama, which made it interesting for both teams' fans and neutral spectators alike.
