Dynamo project and UNITED24: rebuilding a hospital in Chernihiv

During the active hostilities on the territory of our country in March 2022, thousands of infrastructure facilities across Ukraine were completely destroyed as a result of enemy shelling. Among them were hundreds of medical facilities.

Chernihiv region and, in particular, its regional centre became one of the regions that took the first enemy attack and are still recovering from significant destruction. At the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, Chernihiv was under continuous artillery shelling and air bombardment for more than a month, resulting in both irreparable human losses and large-scale destruction of civilian infrastructure, including schools, kindergartens, hospitals, sports facilities and residential buildings.

One of them was Chernihiv City Hospital No. 3, which is one of the city's most critical facilities.

The UNITED24 platform contributed to the major and thorough restoration of the medical institution, for which the Chernihiv hospital became the first project to rebuild medical infrastructure implemented in partnership with FC Dynamo Kyiv, which did not stand aside. Thanks to our club, UAH 13.8 million was raised for the reconstruction during a charity match between Dynamo Kyiv and English Everton, which took place on 29 July 2022 in Liverpool.

Work on the restoration of the X-ray building began in November last year. Thanks to Dynamo's contribution, the external and internal walls, floor and ceiling, heating and water supply were restored for UAH 5.4 million. The remaining work is to complete the facade and roof. At the same time, the X-ray department has already been opened and is receiving patients.

The 1+1 media group provided extensive media and organisational support for Dynamo's match against Everton, which helped raise funds for the hospital's reconstruction.

During the active hostilities in the region, the hospital was fully operational, rescuing patients with injuries and performing necessary surgeries on a daily basis. The building of the X-ray department was damaged on 13 March 2022 as a result of direct hits from several shells. The roof, exterior and interior walls were smashed, and 90% of the utilities were damaged, along with expensive equipment such as a CT scanner, X-ray machine and photo lab. The department played a key role in the operation of the entire medical facility - it was used by patients of the hospital and other medical institutions from all over Chernihiv and the region.

After the building of the X-ray diagnostic unit was fully restored, the destroyed equipment was also replaced, so patients from all over Chernihiv can once again undergo X-ray examinations and receive high-quality diagnostics in comfortable conditions.
