However, Mainz were not complacent and came back even stronger when K. Onisivo scored his second goal in the 24th minute.
Dortmund's Guerreiro received a yellow card in the 40th minute, adding to the frustration of the Dortmund fans. But Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre was quick to make a substitution, producing M. Reus in place of K. Adeyemi. Borussia Dortmund made a second substitution at half-time with J. Moukoko in place of M. Wolfe. This helped to increase the Bundesliga team's attacking power and allowed them to create more chances. Borussia Dortmund continued to press Mainz throughout the second half and their efforts paid off when R. Guerreiro scored his second goal of the match in the 69th minute. Mainz's Edimilson Fernandes received a yellow card in the 71st minute which added to their problems. Both teams continued to make substitutions, with Borussia Dortmund being replaced by J. This match demonstrated the resilience and determination of both teams, and Borussia Dortmund's fighting spirit eventually earned them a valuable point. Although Mainz were unable to convert their three-point advantage, they are proud of their performance and look forward to further developing their strengths in the league.
