Former midfielder of Kyiv Dynamo Che Che, who now plays for Botafogo in his native country, became one of the anti-heroes of his team's match in the Brazilian Cup.
In the 1/8 finals of the tournament Botafogo played a two-match clash with Atletico Paranaense and failed to decide the winner (2-3, 1-0). As a result, the quarter-final berth was decided in the penalty shoot-out.
Che Che was one of Botafogo's penalty takers, but failed to convert the spot-kick. Neither did his team-mate Francisco Soares. As a result, Atletico Paranaense won 4-2 on penalties to advance to the quarter-finals.
Interestingly, Botafogo are now coached by former Shakhtar Donetsk head coach Luis Castro. After the end of the match against Atletico Paranaense, he supported his team's players, who failed to convert the spot-kick: "We are one big family. So if one falls down, everyone else helps him up and that's why we all keep standing together, which is why the team came to the locker room after the match sad but with a very strong spirit of unity."
