The current head coach of Dinamo Kiev, Mircea Lucescu, tops the list of the oldest players in Romanian championship history, the local media have recalled.
Mircea has played one match for Dinamo Bucharest at the age of under 45, and is more than three years ahead of legendary goalkeeper Bogdan Steliu.
1. Mircea Lucescu - 44 years, 9 months, 17 days; Dinamo (Bucharest), 1990.
2. Bogdan Stela - 41 years, 6 months, 5 days; Brasov, 2009.
3. Ovidiu Hoban - 40 years, 5 months and 5 days; CFR 2023.
4. Costel Campeanu - 40 years and 14 days; Gloria, 2005.
5. Joseph Peczowski - 39 years, 11 months, 9 days; UTA, 1961.
We should add that the media were reminded of this ranking due to the fact that 40-year-old Ovidiu Hoban moved from 5th to 3rd place in the final season.
