Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne may miss the start of the new season due to a back thigh injury sustained in the Champions League final against Inter Milan (1-0).
The 31-year-old will not help the Belgian national team in the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers. The Belgian may need up to three months to recover.
"I've had problems for the last two months, since our away match against Bayern Munich. That's why I missed a number of matches due to small tears. Here I tore the muscle completely, so I couldn't continue the game.
I gave my best for the team and the people at the club know that. I'm proud of what I managed to do. It's a shame that it ended like this for me personally, but we won the Champions League, so it's not a big deal," the Daily Mail quoted de Bruyne as saying.
