In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.com, Dynamo head coach Mircea Lucescu shared his impressions of the Champions League final and spoke about his future at the capital's club.
- I spoke to Guardiola before the match, wrote to him after the match. I congratulated him on the victory. He is smart, he knows what to do. He always does.
- Guardiola doesn't have enough experience in Serie B to match your track record.
- He started coaching and playing in six competitions a year straight away, and I didn't have that opportunity for two years. I can assure you that it is not easy to be a coach in Eastern Europe. Guardiola is a very good coach, he knows how to get into the heads of his players.
- Inter failed to beat City in the final...
- It's very disappointing. I've seen a lot of Inter games and I didn't think it would turn out like this. If Lukaku had entered the game earlier, with his physicality, the result would probably have been different.
- What do you think of Simone Inzaghi?
- He did the right thing. The way he worked with the team, Inter deservedly reached the final. For Italian football, this is a very important and successful season, because Italian clubs were in the finals of three European Cup competitions.
- But the Italians lost in all the finals.
- Yes, but this is a step forward from the past. Italy should be happy. The country has shown that it can play and can win in the future.
- But for some reason, the Italian national team coach Roberto Mancini is looking for players for the national team in Argentina, trying to naturalise the players there...
- It's like that everywhere. Building a national team is not easy. Big clubs choose the best players from all over the world. When I was at Galatasaray, there was not a single Turkish player there.
- And Dynamo Kyiv?
- People forget the conditions we play in. Matches are interrupted because of alarms, there are no fans at the stadium. But football must go on, it's part of life.
- Did you actually refuse Al Nasr's offer?
- No, I did not refuse. That's not true, I never received an official offer. But if I had, I would have turned it down anyway. Five years ago, Al Nasr really, really tried to invite me. Their championship is primarily about image, and it's getting stronger.
- You could coach Cristiano Ronaldo.
- Are you sure he will stay?
- Why do you think so?
- He needs trophies. If the team can't win, he can't stand it.
- Mister, what about your future?
- We'll see in the coming days. I still have an agreement with Dynamo Kyiv, but it's not easy. I assure you that you have to love football to be under that kind of stress. We'll see.
