Vitalii Mykolenko: "Every day in the national team I learn and enjoy it"

In an interview with the UAF press service, Everton and Ukraine defender Vitalii Mykolenko shared his expectations from the match against Northern Macedonia.

Vitaly Nikolenko

- Our task, as always, is to win and fulfil the tasks set by the coaching staff. We were told and the players understand that this will be a completely different game. With the Germans, it was a friendly game against a top team. And this is a qualifier and we need to win. We need three points.

- What can you say about North Macedonia in general, what are the strengths of this team, why will it be difficult against them in your opinion?

- We already met them two years ago. I remember that game. Everything seemed to be fine in the first half, and then it was very difficult. So it won't be easy now either. They have some good, technical players who can pass, can score a goal, and they have a pretty good defence, which we will have to open up and play zero behind.

- We've been training under Serhii Rebrov for a week now. What can you say about his style? Is it interesting at all, or are there any peculiarities?

- Well, I've already said that I enjoy every day here, every day I learn something, because new tactics, a new coach and new tasks are facing me personally and the team. Every day I learn and enjoy it.

- Don' t you consider yourself to be the best in the team who gives interviews all the time?

- Well, there is no one who asks to give interviews (smiles). It's Alexander Karavayev. And I may not even be the second.

- And who is the best?

- Probably Andriy Yarmolenko or Zinchenko, because they give interviews in both English and Ukrainian.

- Do you already give interviews in English?

- Well, it's hard to call it "giving". Yes, I'm fighting (laughs).
