Ukraine defender Yukhym Konoplya talks about yesterday's Euro 2024 qualifying match against North Macedonia (3:2), in which he scored one of the goals for the Ukrainian national team.
"The mood is very good because we won a very difficult match. We lost 0-2, but made a very powerful comeback. I am very happy about this, about the fact that we can give this victory to our country, our soldiers and thank them from the bottom of my heart.
At half-time, the coaching staff pointed out our mistakes that we made in the first half. The coaches said that we needed to add to our desire, because in the first half we were losing the fight and rebounding. The game just wasn't going well. We entered the second half with this attitude, added more effort and everything worked out.
My goal? I have very positive feelings because I helped the team win. I think that after coming on as a substitute I made an effort and freshened up the game a bit, and it really helped us, I'm very happy about that. And the combination that led to my goal was played up - we work on this in training. And I dedicate my goal to our soldiers!" Konoplya told Suspilne.
