Ukraine defender Ilya Zabarnyi commented on the result of the Euro 2024 qualifying match against North Macedonia (3:2), in which he scored his debut goal for the Ukrainian national team.
"This is an important victory, three points are important. I am happy to have scored the first goal for the Ukrainian national team. It is also very important for me. I was able to help the team and I am very happy about that. I have already received many congratulations from my wife and family. Of course, it's nice, so thank you all for your support.
However, it was a difficult match. We failed a bit in the first half, but during the break we gathered in the dressing room and identified our mistakes. As a result, we came out in the second half with a completely different attitude and improved our performance. We started attacking more and controlling the ball better.
Of course, it's nice to come back from being two goals down and then win the game. This is important for all our people, who have both strength and spirit. I hope that such victories give hope to all Ukrainians," said Ilya Zabarny.
