Former Ukraine forward Yevhen Seleznyov talks about his injuries.
Yevgeny Seleznev- I just gathered my friends for a farewell match so that the people of Transcarpathia could see what truly stellar football is all about. Here are people who have done a lot of good for the country - both in terms of football and outside of it.
And it's time to raise funds for guys who are young, athletic and dying every day. Somewhere maybe I don't feel good because they're there and I'm not. I don't know how to do it, I'm telling it like it is.
If I drive for two hours in the car, I can't straighten my back afterwards. I can't put my socks on in the morning. I'm not talking about my knees. My left knee, it's practically gone.
- What's your toughest diagnosis?
- There was one operation I escaped from in Madrid. I'm afraid of injections - not the pain, but the process itself. I had my leg shaved, I saw someone being taken out, so I took my things and ran through the centre of Madrid in my bathrobe. The orderlies stopped me(laughs).
- What kind of operation was it?
- The first friendly game (at the time Seleznyov played for Dnipro commentary) - and I got an injury. Juande Ramos said: "I will take you to the clinic of Real Madrid, they have very good doctors there, Kaka - everyone was there. I went. When they took blood, I told the doctors that I was afraid. They did not understand, they thought it was a joke. After my blood pressure went up, I ran away. I looked back and they were standing at a traffic light. I could not run, I waddled, my leg could not bend, and they were right behind me.
