Today, the Ukraine national football team will take on the outsider, the Maltese, in the third round of the Euro 2024 selection process in Trnava.
Former Ukrainian national team forward Taras Kabanov shared his expectations about the encounter:
- In the previous match against Northern Macedonia the game of our national team left a bad taste in my mouth. No exaggeration - failure in the first half and it's good that we got away with only two conceded goals. The nature of the game didn't change much after the break either, and if not Fortuna, who obviously took a liking to Serhiy Rebrov's charges, we could have hardly counted on a positive outcome. Suffice it to say that all three goals against the Balkans were solid! So, one gets the impression that the Ukrainian national team has a lucky coach again...
However, luck alone will not get you to the top. That's why, I am convinced that after the unsuccessful game with North Macedonians, we will make the right conclusions, and today our side will easily declassify the Maltese side. Of course, if we are determined to make it through to the final part of the tournament, we have no right to lose points, as they say.
As for the lineup rotation announced by Serhiy Rebrov at the pre-match press conference, I think Konoplya, Vanat and Malinovskiy will be fielded first. It is not ruled out that the other two will be a couple of spotters.
I hope that Trnava will not underestimate the Maltese and that they will win by at least two goals," Kabanov said.
