Ukraine's midfielder Taras Stepanenko commented on Megogo's broadcast of the narrow victory in the Euro 2024 qualifying match against Malta.
- The third match in a week. How difficult is it to play with such a schedule?
- In principle, it's fine, but the weather is hot. But we physically withstood it, everyone was ready. We have a squad of 25 people, and everyone was in the best mood, everyone could come out and help. I think two wins and a draw in three matches is normal.
- How did Malta surprise you today?
- We were preparing for a tough game. Malta is a good opponent. Nowadays, everyone in Europe has learned to play football, there are almost no good teams. We had tough games against Luxembourg, for example. We need to prepare for each opponent, because we have no right to lose points in such matches. Our goal is to reach the European Championship.
- How did Ukraine manage to get six points in two games?
- With North Macedonia, we failed in the first half, and in the second half we showed character, a thirst for victory and the ability to play good football. Today, in principle, we controlled the game, but there were mistakes. Somewhere, because of fatigue, we lacked freshness. However, we had enough chances, two penalties. And in principle, we deservedly won.
