After the opening match at the UEFA Euro 2023 Youth Championship, forward Danylo Sikan gave a commentary for SuspilneSport, in which he assessed the victory and told the details of the preparations for Croatia U-21.

Before the game, we didn't even have any information about this team, they had a new coach. They hadn't played a single match, they didn't even come to the pre-match training session. It was difficult for us to find out anything about the opponent, how they would play, what their line-up would be and how we would cope with this team. We analysed the players more individually, watched videos from clubs. Somehow, we took moments from this and put this team together.
There will always be pressure of responsibility, because when you start, you take responsibility for this position. You are part of the team, and you have to give 100% on the pitch. This applies to everyone, even if you are not in the squad - you have to give 100%.
We all understand that the most important thing is victory for Ukraine and the Armed Forces. Because our country is at war, and we want to help our country with emotions to make it easier for our soldiers. And just to thank them for defending us," Sikan said.
