The UAF received a letter from UEFA explaining the incident with the Ukrainian flag in Istanbul at the Champions League final.
The UAF clarified the circumstances of the incident with UEFA and, following the study of the situation, received a letter from Nyon signed by Deputy Secretary General Giorgio Marchetti, which reads, in part: "UEFA remains committed to supporting Ukrainian football in these dark times and we all sincerely hope that peace and sport will soon become your daily norm again.
Regarding the unfortunate incident in Istanbul, please be assured that it was an unlawful, unjustified initiative by one of the stewards at the local stadium, which was immediately stopped after it was brought to the attention of the stadium's senior management. Of course, we regret the pain this episode has caused you and will do our best to prevent similar incidents in the future," the letter reads.
