Saudi Arabia decides to withdraw its bid to host the 2030 World Cup

Saudi Arabia has decided to withdraw its bid to host the 2030 World Cup, reports Marca.

According to the newspaper, the reason for the decision was that Saudi Arabia had concluded that the country had no chance of competing with Spain, Portugal and Morocco in their bid to host the 2030 World Cup.

This leaves only two bids for the World Cup. Besides Spain, Portugal and Morocco, four South American countries - Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile - will be jointly fighting for the right to host the 2030 World Cup.

The FIFA World Cup 2030 finals will be decided next year, 2024. The previous World Cup, in 2026, will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
