Kostiantyn Vivcharenko: "Vanat apologised to the team"

Ukraine U-21 defender Kostiantyn Vivcharenko commented on the 1-0 victory over Romania in the 2023 European Championship match.

"Our biggest disadvantage in the match with Romania? The first ten minutes. It was anxiety, because this victory was very important to us. But then we got together and controlled the whole game.

The guys who came back from the national team have been playing for the youth team for a long time, so there are no problems. The guys I play with most often are probably Zhora Sudakov on the left or Mykhailo Mudryk. I have no problems with communication, we get on well with everyone. I think our advantage is in team play, because we feel very good on the pitch and feel each other.

I saw Zhora Sudakova everywhere, but not on the left side in the match against Romania - he moved to the centre and to the right side. Max Bragaru came on and added width, because Sudakov moves more to the centre. These are different players in terms of their style of play. But, in my opinion, when Bragaru came on, it became easier for me to play, because I was able to serve, I had space. One of our opponents was playing against me the whole match - one-on-one, so it was hard to find a free zone.

As for Vanat's sending off, the main thing is that the team won. He apologised to the team. This situation can happen to anyone, so there are no problems. To be honest, I didn't even see that moment. I just saw their player lying on the field. I don't think there was anything serious there - it was more of a publicity stunt," said Vivcharenko.
