Van der Sar is in intensive care. He suffered a cerebral haemorrhage today

Legendary Dutch goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar was hospitalised today due to a cerebral haemorrhage, Ajax Amsterdam tweeted.

The 52-year-old goalkeeper is reportedly in intensive care and his condition is stable.

"As soon as more concrete information becomes available, an update will follow. Everyone at Ajax wishes Edwin a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with you," the statement reads.

It should be added that van der Sar served as Ajax's chief executive from November 2012 until May this year.
