- It all started a long time ago. For a long time, I didn't realise what I was doing, bringing myself to a helpless state. What I was feeling. Usually people drink for pleasure, but I was trying to escape from something or pursue some other goals. Obviously, it does you a lot of harm. I was addicted to sleeping pills. I think I'm not the only one who has faced this in my life. Even in football. Maybe my revelation will help people.

Don't get me wrong, but the pills do work. With our schedule, when you have to get up early in the morning and go to training. With all the adrenaline, it can be difficult to fall asleep, so taking a pill to wake up the next day is no big deal. But when your dopamine system is as broken as mine, it will have the opposite effect. Sleeping pills work for the problem they are prescribed for. But only until it stops working for you personally.

I abused them too much. Don't get me wrong: sometimes I stopped and lived without them for a while. I didn't have a direct hard problem, as I thought I did. I just didn't understand how bad things really were. But I never dealt with the root of the problem, which appeared when I was a child as a result of all the traumas I had received. I tried to cope on my own. I never said anything to anyone, although a couple of times my foster family found me in my room crying and asked me what was happening to me, how I was feeling," said Dele Alli.
