Ten Hag comments on Onan's transfer to Manchester United

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag commented on the transfer of Inter goalkeeper Andre Onan, with whom they worked together at Ajax.

"It is always important for the goalkeeper to keep his goal intact, but the whole team is working on it. So we need a very good defensive organisation. But the goalkeeper must also be able to defend his own goal. This is the first criterion for a good goalkeeper. Modern football requires the defence to play the ball, and the goalkeeper must have the skills of a field player, and Andre has them. You need a combination of these two criteria. We are happy with the transfer.

At Ajax, he had a good relationship with Martinez. Communication with central defenders is important for a goalkeeper. In general, cooperation in the team is very important. The goalkeeper has to interact with the back four and the whole team. Communication must be established," the Red Devils' press service quoted the coach as saying.

It will be recalled that Onan's contract with MU runs until the summer of 2028.
