Artur Avahimyan on the bombing of Mariupol: "My godfather was killed. There are only bones left of him"

Oleksandriya forward Artur Avagimyan, who was born in Mariupol, said that he lost his godfather due to the bombing of the city. His family, girlfriend, relatives and friends were also in Mariupol at the time.

"It was a nightmare. Mariupol was bombarded with all kinds of bombs and rockets. All the districts were in ruins. Everything that is the most precious in my life was in Mariupol - my family, girlfriend and her family, relatives, friends. I could have lost them all just in one moment. It hits you very hard. No one gets in touch, you sit and work yourself up, calm down and work yourself up again. You could say I was going crazy.

But I managed to call my family several times. My dad and my girlfriend travelled several times and caught the connection. I can't imagine how they risked their lives to contact me. The connection was very bad and only for 15 seconds, but at least I knew they were okay. Then there was no connection again for weeks. You understand that during such a bombing, everything changes in 10 seconds. My godfather was killed - a rocket hit his house. There were only bones left of him," Avagimyan said.
