The Ukrainian Premier League has published a press release regarding the broadcasting of Ukrainian league matches in the new season.
"Yesterday, on 24 July, representatives of 12 Ukrainian Premier League clubs confirmed their readiness to cooperate with leading OTT services, including MEGOGO, Kyivstar TV, Sweet TV, Vodafone TV, Setanta Sports, etc., to broadcast the Ukrainian Premier League matches in the 2023/24 season.
This joint agreement is aimed at expanding the audience, promoting the Ukrainian Championship and providing wider access to UPL football matches. MEGOGO experts are providing advice on the implementation of this project.
During the meeting, it was decided that at the initial stage, the broadcasts of the UPL Championship matches will be provided to the audience free of charge. This decision is intended to attract new viewers and support fans of Ukrainian football.
A working group will be set up to further implement the joint UPL-TV product and develop a paid broadcasting model that will help the League's clubs stabilise their financial position, take into account the interests of clubs and fans and meet the needs of Ukrainian football development. It will include representatives of the UPL clubs and MEGOGO specialists who will jointly determine the steps to implement this project.
The cooperation between UPL clubs and leading OTT platforms is an important step forward for Ukrainian football and will help create new opportunities for all stakeholders. This partnership is expected to help increase the popularity of the Ukrainian Premier League and improve the quality of broadcasts for viewers.
We would like to inform you that the matches of the 1st round of the Ukrainian Championship in the 2023/24 season will be available on MEGOGO, Kyivstar TV and Setanta Sports platforms. Negotiations are also underway with other OTT services (Sweet TV, Vodafone TV, Volia), the results of which the League will inform the fans," reads the statement on the UPL's official website.
