Morocco women's national team defender Nouhaila Benzina became the first player to play in a hijab at the World Cup. It was in such a garment that she took to the pitch from the first minutes in the match of the 2nd round of the World Cup group stage against South Korea (1:0).
Benzina played all 90 minutes and received a yellow card at the end of the match.
