Shakhtar Donetsk want to play their home Champions League matches in Hamburg at the Volksparkstadion, the stadium of the local club of the same name.
According to Bild, the Pitmen have already sent an official request to Hamburg regarding the possibility of co-operation on the lease of this stadium for six matches of the Champions League group stage (we would like to remind you that this is the stage from which Shakhtar will start their appearances in the main European Cup tournament this season).
"The Volksparkstadion seats 57,000 spectators. Hamburg itself is in the second Bundesliga, so it should not be a problem for the club to provide its stadium for matches during the week.
Earlier it was reported that Shakhtar are inclined not to play their European Cup matches for the 2023/24 season in Poland, where the Pitmen hosted their international rivals last season.
