The English Premier League clubs intend to ask FIFA to postpone the deadline for closing the transfer window in Saudi Arabia to prevent the loss of players after the deadline in European championships, the Daily Mail reports.

The English Football Association is aware of the clubs' concerns and is ready to send an appeal after a formal request for action.

Clubs in the Saudi Professional League spent more than €350 million this summer to acquire new players, the fifth highest among all leagues in the world.

The transfer window in Saudi Arabia is due to close on 7 September, six days after the end of the transfer window in the leading European leagues.
