Former FIFA referee: "There was a foul on Bujalski, it's a penalty"

Miroslav Stupar, a well-known referee in the past, commented on the controversial game episodes in the confrontation between Aris and Dynamo in the first match of the 3rd qualifying round of the Conference League.

- The observers' attention was focused on two episodes: the penalty kick awarded to Dynamo and the referee's ignoring of the Greek defender's foul on Kyiv's Buyalskiy.

As there was a touch of the ball to the hand of Dynamo defender Sirota, the penalty was fair. Unfortunately, here is the fault of the Kyiv stopper, who did not control his hands at the moment of the hit.

As for Buyalskyy's fall, the referee had every right to award an 11-metre penalty. The home team's defender pushed the Dynamo player in the penalty area when he was rushing towards the goal. By the way, the referee was clearly not consistent in this episode. If he did not award a penalty, he should have shown Buyalsky a yellow card for simulation. It did not happen. Of course, if the VAR system had worked at the match in Thessaloniki, the referee would have had the opportunity to correct his mistake and then justice would have prevailed, - said Stupar.
