Paulo Fonseca: "If Benfica and Braga sign agreements with Russian clubs, the money will drip with the blood of children"

French Lille head coach Paulo Fonseca, known in Ukraine for his work with Shakhtar Donetsk, has issued a call not to do business with Russian clubs.

Paulo Fonseca

"Over the last week I have read that Benfica and Braga are considering selling Chiquinho and Tormen to Russian clubs. "Benfica, which has been deploying aid to Ukraine in an exemplary way since the war began. "Braga, which is run by compassionate people with huge hearts. I DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE. I refuse to do so.

A fortnight ago, the Russian club tried to buy Sassuolo left-back Rogerio. The Italian club refused to negotiate due to ethical issues related to the war. I urge Benfica and Braga to follow the example of the Italian club.

I know that time is passing and people at home do not listen to news related to the war in Ukraine. But every day Russia continues to kill people and innocent children, perhaps some of them at home while watching a football match.

One thing I know is that if Benfica and Braga sign agreements with Russian clubs, the money will drip with the blood of the children who are killed every day in Ukraine. And many of those children loved football. Paulo Fonseca," reads the message on the Portuguese coach's official Twitter page.
