Mancini blamed the president of the national football association for his departure from the Italian national team

News from the camp of Ukraine's rival in the Euro 2024 qualifying group. Now former head coach of the Italian national team Roberto Mancini commented on his decision to leave the post of coach of the national team.

Roberto Mancini

"I explained to Gravina (Garbiel Gravina, president of the Italian Football Federation - ed.) that in recent months I needed support and some words of reassurance. But nothing of the kind from his side did not follow. That's why I resigned.

Perhaps, I should have made such a decision earlier. But still, I left the national team 25 days before its next match, not three.

Gravina spent a year trying to change the composition of my staff. I tried to convey to him that I would agree to a maximum of two new faces, but my coaching staff should not undergo any personnel changes. Only the head coach can decide who is on his coaching staff.

In the end, I was removed simply for my decision, for my position. I patiently sent all the necessary signals to the President of the Federation. If he wanted to help me, he would have done it a long time ago," Mancini is quoted by Football Italia.
