Girona midfielder Viktor Tsygankov spoke about Russia's war against Ukraine in an interview with Spanish journalists.
- Of course, I was there when the war started, so I know exactly what we are talking about. It is very hard for all the people who live there. We suffered a lot with my family when we were in Ukraine. This is a situation that no one should ever have to face. We have to help the Ukrainian people, my country, every day, because without our help, this story will have a very sad ending. We should be eternally grateful to our brave soldiers who defend Ukraine all the time. Without them, I don't want to imagine what we would be like.
I believe that the news does not reveal the full reality of the war. The reality is that every day some misfortune can happen. It could be happening right now. There is no quiet moment. It's very difficult. But we are waiting for our victory. Our warriors are doing everything they can to get it. Of course we will win, of course we will.
However, without your help, it would be even more difficult. If anyone is willing to do more on their part, we would be very grateful, but it is not up to us. I think the most effective way to help is financial donations, because with this money the Ukrainian government will be able to buy weapons to defend our people from Russian aggression. There are people who have lost their homes, their relatives... It's terrible. These are irreparable losses, and there is little that can be done except to shelter them or feed them. If someone can help, just do it," the former Dynamo Kyiv midfielder said, in particular.
