Both teams were hungry for victory, and the match promised to be exciting from the start. In the first half, both teams fought for dominance on the pitch. Toulouse defended staunchly, not allowing Paris Saint-Germain's attacking forces to break through. On the other hand, the visitors showed their attacking power, but failed to hit the goalposts. At halftime, the score remained 0:0, which indicated an even contest between the teams. The situation changed quickly at the start of the second half. In the 45th minute, Paris Saint-Germain's Lee Kang-In received a yellow card, which meant a physical struggle on the pitch. Determined to turn the situation in their favour, Paris Saint-Germain made a double substitution in the 51st minute, replacing Lee Kang-in with K. Mbappe, and F. Ruiz for O. Dembele. In response to the opponent's substitution, Toulouse made their own substitution: in the 57th minute, F. Magri replaced D. Janreau.
However, in the 62nd minute, when a penalty was awarded, Paris Saint-Germain achieved a breakthrough. K. Mbappe, coming forward, coolly realised the penalty and put his team ahead. On 71 minutes "Toulouse", not wanting to give up, made a double substitution, releasing on the field T. Dalling and J. Begraoui. This injection of fresh energy breathed new life into the attack. Time passed, and in the 87th minute Toulouse's determination bore fruit: a penalty was awarded to the visitors. Z. Aboukhlal, coming forward, masterfully realised the penalty, levelling the score. In the last minutes of the match both teams made the last substitutions. On 90 minutes "Toulouse" released M. Desler instead of M. Bangre, and Z. Aboukhlal left the field, making room for V. Kamanzi. Soon the half-time whistle sounded, and the scoreboard became equal - 1:1.
