Girona midfielder Viktor Tsygankov spoke in an interview with Spanish journalists about football in Ukraine during the war.
- The current football situation in Ukraine is very difficult. Everything was fine with football there until the war in Donbass started in 2014. From that moment everything went downhill. After that, many players left the country. The stadiums used to be full. There were great matches on the pitch, people were having a good time and cheering for their teams, just like here.
Now there is nothing left of that. We don't have fans in the stadiums. They're empty. There's no emotion. It's a bad moment, both for the country and for football. I hope that when we win the war, everything will be back to normal and people will be able to return to the stadiums to celebrate victories with their teams," the former Dynamo Kyiv midfielder said, in particular.
