The 29-year-old suffered a muscle injury in pre-season, forcing him to miss both of City's first two games of the new Premier League campaign. Stones will also miss the matches against Sheffield United on 27 August and against Fulham on 2 September in the Premier League.

Also, Stones will not travel to the location of the England national team, which will play in the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Ukraine on 9 September and will also play a friendly game with the Scottish national team on 12 September.
