The legendary Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho did not appear in court. He is suspected of involvement in the scam company 18kRonaldinho, reports Globo.
According to the source, Ronaldinho was supposed to come to court for a hearing the other day, but never did. The last deadline for the Brazilian is 31 August. If the ex-footballer does not show up at the court hearing this time, he faces arrest.
Interestingly, Ronaldinho explained his failure to appear in court by weather conditions, which allegedly did not allow him to fly. He also added that he does not consider himself guilty. In turn, Ronaldinho's lawyers explain that their client represented a brand of jewellery and watches, and the organisers of the fraudulent scheme illegally used the former footballer's identity to promote their services.
Clients were encouraged to invest a minimum of $30 in bitcoins, for which they were promised returns of more than 2% per day. However, no one ever received a payout. The clients have filed a class action lawsuit against the company and are demanding reimbursement of R$300 million, which is about $51.2 million.
