Dmytro Babeliuk, a sports doctor known for his work with Rukh Lviv, commented on the injury situation of Dynamo Kyiv and Ukraine midfielder Mykola Shaparenko.

Mykola Shaparenko

"There is a risk that Shaparenko will miss more than 3 weeks. It's about the diagnosis reported by the UAF (by the way, it's strange that the national federation, not the club for which the player plays, reports the player's injury and the timing of his withdrawal), namely, an injury to the biceps tendon of the thigh.

The news article states that it will take about 3 weeks for the player to recover, but this is a period that is usually typical for a muscle injury.

Tendons, on the other hand, are known for being poorly supplied with blood, being a stronger structure, but, accordingly, taking longer to heal. That's why tendon injuries almost ALWAYS take much longer to recover from than muscle injuries.

We don't know how serious Mykola's injury is, but I'd venture to guess that, given the confirmed tendon injury, the player will definitely miss more than a month, about 6-8 weeks.

The tendon needs to heal, the player needs to restore muscle readiness and gain physical fitness to play football. It is unlikely that this will happen in 3 weeks," Babeliuk wrote on his Telegram channel.
