I recall that coach Mircea Lucescu, while leading Shakhtar and Dynamo, always believed that Ukrainians should play in defence. Unfortunately, this time this personnel approach failed. Dynamo's defence often resembled a kind of passing yard. Stoppers Sirota and Popov could make a mistake at any time. The opponents took advantage of this. The lack of a reliable rear also affected the effectiveness of other links. And then, as if to add insult to injury, Vanat, who was put at the forefront of the attack, could only be blamed for his diligence.
