The legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon told us why he decided to retire.
"There was no point in continuing to play. I believe that the right time has come to retire, I am at a mature age. Last season was a test. I started it in great shape, but I still got injured, and that was a wake-up call for me," Buffon was quoted as saying by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
On 2 August, Buffon announced his retirement from football. Gianluigi is a graduate of the Parma Academy. He played for this club from 1995 to 2001, after which he joined Juventus, where he spent 17 years before leaving for PSG.
