Benfica president Rui Costa: "Trubin was not part of our plans, but..."

The president of Benfica Lisbon Rui Costa commented on the transfer of Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin.

"We knew that we would be looking for another goalkeeper. Trubin was not part of Benfica's plans because this option was almost unrealistic. Trubin is recognised throughout Europe and we tried to formalise his transfer, although we understood that he would not leave Shakhtar for free.

When we realised that there was a window of opportunity, we tried to make his transfer, because there was a year left on his agreement with Shakhtar. In the next few years Trubin will be one of the best goalkeepers in Europe," Cossa is quoted by Maisfutebol.
